D. Adam Estner, also known as Schmah - Schmah, was born in Paterson, New Jersey on April 5, 1978 to Robert Estner and Charthel Arthur, both dancers with the Jeffrey Ballet Company. In 1982, they moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to work for the Grand Rapids Ballet. There Adam started playing guitar at age 12 and joined a band a year later. After high school, Adam attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Soaking up culture, meeting inspiring and teachers, and playing with pop/r&b, alterna-rock, jam rock, jazz, mariachi, West African, gospel, and orchestral ensembles. He lived there three years. During the summer of '99, Schmah made two important journeys; one to Peru, visiting the remains of Inca civilization and the other to Tucson, Arizona, where he decided to move next. First, though, he spent a year back in Grand Rapids to play with the Heart of Gold Band and recorded a few tracks on their album "Songs from Little Blue". In August '00, Adam headed West to attend University of Arizona for classical guitar and modern composition. His first night in town, Schmah was introduced to a kindly gentleman by the name of James M. Prange. The following day he was having a jam session, Adam checked it out. Thus Schmah recieved his initiation into the mystical world of the Dome. Influences & inspirations: Rush, The Grateful Dead, Phish, Guns'n'Roses, George Lucas, Stephen King, David Lynch, Bruce Bartlett, Federico Marco Antonio Lara, his Parents, Yessai, 5ive, the tao, and the Mysterium.
